7575th Operations Group
7575 Operations Group Patch The 7575th Operations Group was activated at Rhein-Main Air Base Germany on 1 July 1977 to support USAFE's special operations in Europe. Three flying squadrons were assigned to the group, the 7th Special Operations Squadron, the 7405 Operations Squadron, and the 7580th Operations Squadron. On 31 Mar 1991 the 7575th OG was inactivated at Rhein-Main AB, GE.
7405th Operations Squadron
7405th Operations Squadron Patch The 7405th Operations Squadron was activated in 1955 at Wiesbaden AB, GE, as the 7405th Support Squadron operating C-118As and EC-97Gs. In June 1958 one of the unit's C-118s was shot down over Soviet Armenia. In 1975, the squadron was renamed the 7405th Operations Squadron and moved to Rhein-Main AB, GE where they transitioned to flying specially equipped C-130Es. On 1 July 1977 the 7405th OS became part of the 7575 OG. The unit was inactivated on 31 March 1991.
7580th Operations Squadron
7580th Operations Squadron Patch The 7580th Operations Squadron was activated on 1 July 1977 at Rhein-Main AB, GE. The unit was staffed with C-130 Electronic Warfare Officers (EWOs) and aircraft maintenance personnel. The unit was inactivated on 31 March 1991.
